Anyone who has seen NCFOM knows that it is a pretty great movie, and in that movie are some pretty great scenes with some pretty great shotguns.

I know Llewelyn Moss's shotgun was a cut-down Winchester 1897. Classic.

Anton Chigurh's weapon was a Beretta 390 with a "machined suppressor," to quote the book.

To those of you who have seen the movie: what was your favorite scene?

To those who haven't: get on it!

My favorite scene was anytime the shotgun with the silencer was fired. I wonder if those are easy to make? Probably would add a lot of weight to the end of the barrel. Plus, if you need to use a ******, your probably not too worried about the noise.
just don't forget it also REQUIRES BATFE APPROVAL and $200 tax BEFORE building on a form 1

Thanks for looking out Banshee. But, alas, I have no intention on ever silencing my ******. I will be purchasing silencers for both my 9mm and the m4 I have yet to purchase. I think putting one on a tactical sniper rifle would be nice too.... I wonder how they effect accuracy and distance?

I especially liked when the man who hires wells asks woody harrelson (carson wells)
if anton chigurh is dangerous, and he says "compared to what, the bubonic plague?"

I haven't ever put a silencer on a rifle or shotgun so I really don't know much about it, but I do have one on a Submachine-gun. Neat toy. It is nice to shoot and not have to wear hearing protection. You can hear the brass hit the ground and the bullets strike the target.

3rd picture of the 5 - I don't get it. The hole in the silencer is a lot smaller than a 12 gauge hole. Wouldn't the shot just blow the thing off? What am I missing?

Hi, excuse my homemade .22 silencer for it's current condition, it's been used at least 100 rds, time to replace the rivets and the snuff canister soon, the whole unit is only 8 1/2 '' long and 1 3/4 '' in diameter, when shoot inside a building, it only sounds like a pellet gun.

were did you put the serial number?

"Anton Chigurh's weapon was a Beretta 390 with a 'machined suppressor,' to quote the book."

I have also heard some say he uses a Rem 1187 in the film. Either way, the story takes place around 1980 (at least that's when the book that the film is based on takes place). And I don't think either of those shotguns were made until well after 1980.

There are dozens of other bloopers in the film too such as cars that were not made until after 1980 and signs on buildings that didn't exist in 1980.

But that's typical Hollywood dramatic license.

I still did, however, enjoy the film.

I believe I'll take the Sergeant Schultz approach. " "I know nothing, I see nothing, and I say nothing!"
Kinda hard to ignore when the pictures and text are still up for the world to see.

Hey, dude-
You do know that that's illegal, right? I think it's a felony w/o BATF aproval. Now, I'm no fan of the "laws" governing things like this, but did it ever cross your mind that posting a picture of your homemade supressor on the 'net was less than a stellar idea?
Zombie illegal can thread

The man may have already carted him off by now.

The gun was a Remington 1100 with some custom work. It looked like the barrel had been chopped, the stock painted (I don't think they made synthetics on the 1100 yet) and the gun powder coated, then supposedly the barrel threaded to accept that silencer. The 1897 was pretty much stock, then Lewelyn chopped the barrel with a hacksaw, cleaned it up with a file, then stoked it with double ought buck.

Remember folks, that was a MOVIE. That thing may have been a props department mockup rather than a real silencer. Very often movie studios add sound and computer generated flash and smoke to simulate gunfire. HBO did a short documentary on how the special effects were created for Pans Labernith. One scene had bad guy Nazis shooting people with Lugars. They could not use real guns or even fire blanks because scene was filmed in a National forrest in France. The way the studio got around this was to use prop guns and CG muzzle flash. Even the bullet holes and blood on the people being shot was CG. Real guns firing blanks will be used less and less in the movies because of the danger and legal restrictions as well as the cost and insurance. Several actors have been seriously hurt and two killed in accidents involving blanks. Remember Brandon Lee?
