Anyone know of any semi-auto, box magazine fed 12 guage. I've heard of them but they seem to be somthing like hunting for naga's for their nagahide.

Thanks in advance,

I've never seen one in person, but I think this is what you want.

Here's a link to RAA, the importer of Saiga shotguns. I've never fired the shotgun, but I have one of their .223 rifles.

It looks like gunsatcost.com has the 12-gauge, but it's unclear whether it is in stock right now or backordered--there are two different listings for the same model of gun.

Found a usas-12 made by Daewoo. Word on the street is that you need a class III but it is only a semi-auto. Now I know that they also make a full-auto version but how about only the semi?

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thanks,

you've basically got 2 choices if you want something that holds more than 4

Saiga 12
Great gun, many options out there being offered for it now, including conversions which basically set it up like an AK47 shotgun
Available in the 12, 20 and 410
Nope, can't get a 28 ga for a 4 gun set so you can go be the first registered skeet shooter to shoot a saiga 4 gun set
12 ga mags are readily available all day long in 5 rounds for about $40, there are also Russian 8 rounders which you can find on gunbroker and ebay for about 110 bucks each, and 10 rounders which have just started being manufactured in the USA

Spas15
Awesome gun, but dont break anything as you're not going to find a replacement.
About 200 imported into the country in early 90s, be ready to spend about 5G for one if it's got more than a couple of mags

Other than that, you're pretty much out of luck unless you've got a class 3 or can register the destructive device, USAS12 as mentioned earlier.

You know from the research I have done, I found it hard to believe that the usas was a class III when it is basically a semi auto just like the Saiga.

Now I know that they had/have a full auto version but classifying the semi auto as a destructive divise totally escapes me, or is it just another form of irrational banning of firearms?

a little more research will tell you why they were restricted. It has nothing to do with a semi/full auto version.

http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/user/wbard ... 2001-1.txt
you can read the ATF ruling there, but in summary, the Secretary deemed them to have no sporting purpose, they don't specifically state why they aren't sporting, or what criteria was taken into consideration, but the USAS12, along with the others classified as destructive devices at the same time all had drum magazines available.

So yes, you're right, it was another example of irrational banning of firearms, and it won't be the last.

[Preaching to the Choir] It's just a shame to see that irrationality can become law!

Thanks to all that have input!

Not an automatic, but Baikal makes a pump that has a box
magazine. In fact it has both a box magazine and tubular
magazine. I have never seen one, but have seen pictures.
