I've been renting O/Us at my sporting clays range for a while and I've finally decided to take the plunge and buy my own shotgun. I've decided I would like a Lanber O/U, ideally a 2098 or 2099 if I can find one. Lots of 2097s out there, but ideally I would like a gun with a 30" barrel. 28" isn't a deal breaker if it's a 2098 or 2099.

If you've got a nice example of one of these and you would like it to have a nice home where it will be well cared for with a beginning sporting clays shooter please drop me a PM.

Thank you,

Dan

Gave up trying to find a decent 2097, so I bought a Beretta 686.

I did find a nice nearly new Lanber semi auto 12 gauge for $250 as a second gun....

I would quote my father's oft said comment about everyone having an opinion along with a particular body part, but....

The Beretta was a compromise and a good deal I fell into. Had that not been the case I would have continued my search for a Lanber, which I have with some success. I've shot the Beretta with a few other guns recently and found it to be no better or worse. I'm not hung up on brand recognition - if it goes "BANG", sends shot down the range and busts the clay I'm pointed at, it's good.

I recently purchased a nice, nearly new Lanber 12 gauge semi auto shotgun, which is very plain and simple but does a great job. It's nothing fancy but patterns well and has removable chokes with a 28" barrel. $250.00, a real steal. It will be a backup gun for guests or others who might want to accompany me when I go to bust clays on the weekend.

I may just be lucky of late, but I also found an older, brand new never fired 30" O/U double trigger Lanber. I paid the dealer a grand total of $301.00 for it - worth every penny. If there was a negative it would be that it has fixed chokes, but that's not a big deal to me. It's a beautiful gun and was well preserved for the time it was in storage. I'm looking forward to putting it to the test shortly.

So for all intents and purposes my Lanber search is over for now. Unless, of course, I stumble upon another great deal on one....
