Hello
I was wondering what everyone thought of the Browning Silver with the rifled slug barrel. I currently have a Stoeger M2000 and was able to get one of the few rifled cantilever barrels that they put out. I am very disappointed with the reliability of this gun. Whether I am shooting upland birds with the smootbore barrel or sighting in the slug barrel there is a decent amount of failure to fires due to light primer strikes. I have contacted benelli and they are not a lot of help which is why I am not going consider the Benelli M2 or other Benelli autos when making my next purchase. I have also considered an 11-87 but I am somewhat leaning toward the Browning but you may be able to make me change my mind. I will be getting a smooth barrel for the gun as well to hunt phesant with.

If some of you could tell me what you think I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Two things:

1) Why did you contact Benelli about your Stoeger? Yes same internals, but don't the service departments function independently? Maybe just my ignorance.

2) If you don't want the cantilever barrel, I definitely think you should talk to forum user B-N. I know for a fact that he would be interested in talking to you about it...even if it's been a lemon for you.

Both times that I have contacted them I got the customer service number off of the stoeger website and it goes directly Benelli USA.

I will have to think about selling the barrel.

birkett

How many rounds do you have through your m2000?

How did you "break in" the gun?

I have a Browning Silver and I love it! I've only owned it a little while and this will be my first deer season with this gun. I can tell you that the accuracy with Remington Accu tip slugs is great. About 1 1/2" at 80 yards. I think the other guns you mention are good guns also But I really like my Browning

was it one of the guns involved in the stoeger recall?

benelli and stoeger do not use the same internal parts. similar design, different quality of parts. benelli and franchi are made in the same plant in Italy, the stoeger is made in turkey.

I have been drooling over the Browning Silver Rifled Deer Stalker; and I would expect it to be flawless for over one thousand dollars. I can assure you, that if you bought a Remington 11-87, you would live to be very glad that you bought it, and you would cherish it. Remington has dominating quality over all the rest. My Remington Sportsman 12 auto was a cheap version of the 1100 offered at Kmart and only made in 1985 and 1986. After traveling around to a dozen sporting clays clubs and shooting a 100-round course at each club; I had not one failure in well over 1000 rounds fired. I then purchased a cantilever rifled barrel for it, and it shoots platinum tips in the bullseye at 100 yards at will, and groups them inside of 2 inches. And that's the first sabot slug I shot through the gun. If you have the $ to buy the browning; then it still would be a hard decision because I know of Remington's quality; but the Browning Silver is very appealing. I know you would not regret the Remington.

If you want to sell the slug barrel for your stoeger, let me know. I will definately take it. I am going to assume it is a cantilever?
