OK, is that a really huge doe or an antlerless buck?

Here's my Remington 870 20 gauge with a fully rifled slug barrel. I've taken 5 deer with it so far and none have ran more than 50 yards. Definitely one of my favorite guns for deer hunting. (sorry it's not a very good picture)

Ok, I'll play. Mine is a Mossberg 835 Ultra-Mag deer/turkey combo. 24 in back-bored rifled factory ported barrel topped with a 1.5-4x33 Bushnell Dask and Dawn scope. I've been really happy with the accuracy so far. I'm shooting 3 in Remmy Accra-Tips. 1-1.5 in groups at hundred yards. They open up a bit at 200 yards with around 2.5 in groups. I'm sending it in to have it retrofitted with the new LPA adjustable trigger. It adjustes down to 2.5 lbs.

Safarikid, where do you get the 1040-grain slugs? Or the mold?

I'm looking at loading some hard-hitting subsonics, and that weight looks about right.

Mine USED to be a variable choke gun. Until I shot a slug with it on full choke, DON'T DO THAT!!! LOL Needless to say, the choke is no more. So I cut the barrel down a little since I prefer slugs over buckshot anyway. Still in the process of sighting in more so than grouping so I won't post target pics just yet. However, here's some pics.

Old barrel end;

Choke sleeve after busting a slug through it on full choke, did I mention NOT to do that?;
Image

New barrel end, forgive the "group" or lack there of. I was just shooting the crap out of it testing the barrel;

Here are some pics of my brand new Browning BPS 20 Gauge Slug Gun. It's all set up with Weaver Classic V7 2.5-7x32 Scope and Leupold PRW RIngs. I boresighted with a grid pattern boresighter and waiting on my ammo. I ordered Winchester Supreme Partiton Gold because I found 100% positive tesimonials from other 20 ga. slug hunters on the web on the performance of the 260 grain partition golds. Here she is!

Here is mine. It's a converted 12g BPS with a rifled cantilever and a bushnell trophy red dot sight. Also inclued are a few 3 shot groups from last falls zero. If I remember I'll post pics from yesterdays when I get home. I bought a used BPS earlier this week and I shot 3 rounds through the first gun, then I swapped the barrel out and shot 4 throug the new gun. To my suprise it's dead on windage and only a hair lower than the first :D

I'm buying a Mossberg 835 with a slugbarrel,my first slug gun,Does the barrel need to be seasoned ,like a regular rifle barrel does when new?
And if so,where would i find the the procedure?

18 Nov, 2010. Thought I was shooting a doe. Turned out to be a buck when I went to field dress him. I was hunting from the ground. He came from behind and SAW me at less then 30 feet. We stared at each other for 10 minutes. He stomped a couple of times. I tried not to breathe. He decided I was a tree and moved on, stopping with his head behind a tree. I took my shot. 1 oz Foster slug at 50 yards more or less. He dropped in his tracks.
