Hey Chromeslayer I also picked up a Savage 220f in Camo. As you have not yet been able to go and shoot. I would like to know what make and where you purchased the slip on cheek pad? Thanks for any info.

Took this little sow (105 lbs) on a bloodtrack about a month ago with my jagdterrier, shot miss piggy behind the ear and she dropped dead immediately.

My Slug Gun is a Savage 212, with a Horus Vision Hawk, mounted via an EGW picatinney and Leuopold Mark four rings. My buddies and myself do alot of long range shooting, mostly with custom built 338's, We have hits out too 2460y on steel plates roughly 24"x24" with our rifles; my personal best has been 2100yards. I hadn't had my new slug gun long and my rifle was being built, so i took along the Savage just for some trigger time. To make a long story short my buddy who happens to be a gunsmith decided to try at our closest target, which was a lasered 680y with the Savage. After a little doping session on JBM ballistics and some practical figuring lol "they dont exactly have ballistics charts for slugs" We collectively came up with a rough holdover of 51 ft. His first attempt was about four mils low, to our amazement, we both tryed 5-6 more shots getting very close but not connecting, upon close inspection of the target we were within 6 inches several times. At the time I had an old Tasco proghorn, it was then and there I decided to put my Horus Vision on and give it another try. We zeroed the gun for a 300 yard zero and with 13 additional mils via retical and clicks I made back to back hits at 633y on a 18"x18" steele tatget, I was very pleased to say the least. Another attempt brought me within inches of an 8" steel circle at 750y several times but never quite connected, ran out of scope and the 5 dollar apeice Winchester supreme elites, ouch!

damn savage, thats some good shooting!!
i wish i had someone with experience like you to give me a hand sighting in my 870 so its better and helping pick the ammo.
ive been using Winchester supreme elite 2000 fps slugs, they seem to be consistent, but im a new shooter so obviously im not. (not a bad shot at all, just dont have the experience)
ive changed out my scope for a bushnell still 3-9x40 and ive switched to the OEM Remington SPS stock, which is what they sell as the express slug gun. i was looking at a lot of aftermarket stocks but this one i liked the best, and was only $65 with a new forend....cant go wrong at that price.

i also tried out the winchester rackmaster slugs, theya are rated at 1650fps and designed for smooth and rifled bore shotguns, i see a market for them especially at $7/box compared to $13/box but they just dont carry as well, i noticed a 3-4 inch drop at 50 yards in comparison to the supreme elite slugs.
