I would like to install the cast shim for a left handed shooter on my Stoeger M3000.
I have searched for how to do it but I see no specific videos for that gun. Anyone who has performed the switch can give me a heads up as to what tools required and any tips or tricks to help. I have done the safety switch using a video and it took less than 15 minutes .
Any help is much appreciated.

Never mind it appears there is no cast shim for the M3000 supplied only drop shims.

Ok I stand corrected. The shims are reversible.
My next question is : I measured the differences between the side thickness of the shins. It is about 1mm. I am wondering how much of a difference that would really make over a 12 to 13 inch span. The length of the stock.
So by changing the shims how much cast would you get. The benelli has a washer inside the stock that you also switch from DX right to SX left that would also add to the cast. The M3000 does not.
So will there be any real perceptable difference.

Others here are more expert at this process than I, but I've been trying to figure out my own cast situation and am familiar with the math.

For ease of calculating, I'm using the following assumptions--the receiver is 30 mm wide, the stock is 300 mm from receiver to butt, and the distance from receiver to your eye is 125 mm.

a 1 mm difference at the receiver will move the stock about 10 mm at the heel (a tad more than 3/8") and roughly 4 mm at your eye (roughly 5/32").

This should move your point of impact about 2.5" at 16 yards from neutral. Since you are going from cast off to cast on, flipping the shim should move the point of impact 5" in total. (I'm betting the difference is a little less than that, but flip it over and see where you hit the pattern board)

BTW, my understanding is that changing the washer on the Benelli simply allows you to screw the bolt straight in, by adapting to the changed angle of the stock.

Ok thanks for your help. Now I am working on the drop at heel. I checked my best shooting gun my Winchester SX4 and the drop is 2 inches. My M3000 is 2.5. So I am trying to figure which Shim will get me there. It is currently 60 mm R. I have a 50 55 and 65. I am thinking 50 would do it.
Thanks again.

I think I figured it out. The shims are labeled Eg R 50 and L 50 on the flip side. That means the shim will give R or L 50 mm drop at heel which converts to 1.969 inches. Too bad nobody tells you that. Or maybe I missed that. Makes aot of sense.
