I am traveling quite a bit to AZ as of late, got some nice ranges out there. Is the supplied case strong enough to protect my guns from the rigors of airline travel?

When I take a look at my CG case, I don't think it is.

May be a moot point, as my Guerini case has no place for padlocks--just the combination locks. I think (meaning I don't really know, but you should check) there is that requirement.

I have a double rifle version of that same case. I haven't used it for air travel, but it is a fairly rugged case, I would think it would be fine.

I recently aqcuired a Pelican AR-15 case, it's the same size as the double take-down case except about 6" longer, which is nice if you are taking a couple longer barreled sporting guns, or auto's. It was kinda pricey, but the guns don't move in there, and I think it would survive a fall out of the airplane at altitude, the thing is sturdy. I've flown with it 4 times, and everything was fine.

edit: Wow, just realized that was a very old thread I just resurected. And I had posted on it before.........

I use same case as Kraiza. Expensive but cheap when you consider the cost to have your gun repaired from shipping in a substandard case.

If I were using the case for airline shipping ONLY...my choice would be a Pelican case.

The CG americase has a digital padlock and not a key lock. I was under the impression that to transport guns by plain they had to be in a TSA key locked case.
