Driving down to Austin to August Crocker's shop and picking up my LH Summit Ascent.
I'm so pumped. My first Guerini. Shot one at the Nationals Demo tent. Thinking of picking up a set of 20 gauge sidekick tubes as well.

I think the Summit Ascent is a beautiful gun. I had one, but it was too heavy for old and decrepit me, who has since found happiness with a Syren Tempio. My Ascent moved on to my friend Hugh, who loves it. MAJ

I have a challenger Ascent with the tube set from CG. Love it. Glad I did the 30" barrels and tube set. Very comfortable gun to shoot. Enjoy

The Ascent is my favorite CG configuration. Congratulations on making a fine choice!

Picked it up today after August fine tuned it for me. I'll be at the Club in the morning!

Well, Got to shoot about 200 rounds and the Ascent is on its way back to Guerini. I had 5 Doublings in 75 rounds. Both barrels going off at the same tim. Ouch! Hope its something simple.

That's a bummer about having a problem with your new love on the 1st day. I have 5 (all 4 gauges) Guerini's and never had that problem. The latest 2 were a 12 gauge Maxum Sporting and Summit Ascent. I too bought them from August because his inventory of guns has far more beautiful wood than I've seen locally or on line. I would not recommend buying one sight unseen because some come with very nondescript wood these days.

The 1st day I shot them, they both had the same problem. When I went to open the gun to eject the shells, neither lever would budge. They were locked tight. I freaked out. The only way I could open them was to vertically hold the gun and bang the butt pad down on the bench. I called August and he asked me what grease I used. Apparently the grease wasn't up to snuff. He recommended grease with molybdenum in it. I happened to have marine wheel bearing grease. Put some on the locking bolt and groove it sits in and it worked like a charm.

Have you given August a call? He was very helpful and accommodating.

Sent the Ascent back to the factory after talking with August. Andrew at CG had the gun on a Wednesday, fixed and tested Thursday and shipped back that Friday. Very impressed with their service and quick attention.

Wow, that's a great turn around time. Just a few months ago, guys on the forum were complaining that the turnaround time had stretched out to 45 days. They must have been swamped, but being your gun was brand new and purchased from August, maybe they put a rush on it. Hopefully it's functioning ok now

I've had my Ascent since Spring 2016 and also had it double on me sometimes. I called CG and they told me they would have gunsmiths at Elysburg Shoot in PA. Drove out and they were great guys. Had to kill a few hours which was costly :) as I picked up a new vest, glasses and ear plugs. Turned out, a pin had drifted and needed to be peened a little. No problems since, love the gun.

Well. after 3 months of shooting my Ascent, after having the gun fitted, specifically, shortening the LOP and adjusting the comb, I absolutely love this gun! My POI is perfect and my Sporting Clay scores are as much as 10 clays more than when shooting my Autos. I've never had a gun that feels and points so great. I am a happy camper now! :D

Hey, I was wondering if August has a stock of guns to look at and shoulder? I have sent him an email, but have not heard back from him.
