I'm just wondering on how the State Points work for the All-State Teams. I'm currently 2nd in D for Virginia and only behind first by 1 Total Point. I won "C" class this year at the State Shoot and have shot 750 targets with 600 being shot instate (I also shot another 100 registered targets in late October so they weren't factored in the breakdown). I for some reason, do not have any State Points "awarded" to me in the breakdown and I am one of only a few that don't have any State Points. I am hoping somebody on here can enlighten me on why I do not have any of these State Points since it seems these are holding me back from making the All-State Team. Also, I looked at the State Team breakdown on the NSCA website and it doesn't mention how State Points are earned The link below will take you to the all state team breakdown http://www.mynsca.com/Net/AllStateRace.aspxThanks, Will Pearce Radford University Skeet and Trap Club Vice President

Will,
Interesting that your state lists activity in the last "state" columns, when ours (South Carolina) leaves that section blank. I, too, am not that familiar with the inner workings.
A couple of things to remember: First, NSCA takes a long time to post shoots, so this information is usually pretty stale. Secondly, the guy ahead of you has shot a lot more targets, so he may have some outstanding points that aren't shown. You better get out before the year end and shoot as many registered events as you can. It looks like you are a better shooter, but there is a chance you might be beat by the numbers game...
Good luck and I hope you make the team. That's a pretty nice patch for your vest!
I.S.

You can find the rules on the NSCA website. You compete in the class you started the year in. Your allocated points at each shoot based on how you did against everyone in the same class at the beginning of the year. If you are in first place on overall points you get 30 points (i think), 29 for second, 28 for third, etc. For the state points you get 10 points if you had the high score in the main event at the state shoot, again against all shooters that were in your class at the first of the year, 9 points for second, etc. These are addeded to the overall points to come up with the total. It is very critical to place high in the main event at the state shoot. This is from rough memory of reading the rules. The top person in each class makes the state team.
