Is it just me or is anyone else having trouble downloading the 2011 version of Mike's spreadsheet? I have tried with Excel 2003 and 2007 and both indicate that the file format is not Excel and when opened is gobblygook.

I e-mailed Mike on this but haven't heard back yet (this is NOT criticism of Mike, I'm glad he does this as a service to us in his spared time and I'm sure I will hear from him eventually).

Has anybody sucessfully downloaded the 2011 Scores file?

I haven't tried to download it, but that will happen if he's using the latest version of Excel and you aren't. There's a patch you can download from the microsoft website.

Hi drsfmd - as noted above, I have tried it with both MS Excel 2003 (including the file conversion utility for newer file versions) and MS Excel 2007 which is the latest version. No joy.

For any who wish to try it, the link is:

A good place to use to keep your scores is

Works well and I have used it for a while.

There is an Office 2010.

I follow the link you provided, and it opened fine for me in Excel 2010, but it did give me a warning message that the file format and extension were not the same (likely, he took an xlsx document and renamed it as xls without doing a save as)

2007 and 2010 both use the open HTML file format.

For some reason, this afternoon I was able to open the download with 2007. Not sure what was the problem earlier, perhaps Mike fixed it or perhaps I was screwing it up.

I have a version I think I downloaded earlier this year but maybe I just downloaded 2010 and renamed it. It opens under Office 97 Excel just fine.

In any case, I think you can just copy the 2010 sheet and clear it and rename it to 2011 unless the class averages have changed.

For those who want to get a copy of what I have, go to

http://www.bdb.com/2011SkeetAverages_blank.xls

and it should open.

I got it to work in Excel 2003 with file conversion. Here's how I did it:
Save the file.
Highlight the file.
Right click - Save as
Save as type: Microsoft Excel 2007 Binary Workbook
Yes to changing file type.

It worked normally after that.

Sorry for all the issues.
I upgraded to Excel 2007 due to my obligations with Microsoft.

Download and save the file to disc. Rename the extension to *.xlsm and it should open without issues.

Or, just say yes when it ask if you want to run macros. This file appears to be an MS Excel Macro. Works fine as is for me.
