Can someone please explain why regional shoots aren't run like state shoots? To win you must reside in the state. Only one of the top 7 shooters at NE regional resides in the region.
And it's consistent with national practice. The vast majority of registered shoots are open events that any NSCA member can enter - and win, if he shoots well enough.
The way our state championship works (Maine) is that all shooters are welcome. Punches in each class are awarded based on highest scores and ties per the NSCA rules regardless of where the shooter resides.
The Maine state champ is the highest scoring Maine resident. The state champ in the various classes and concurrents is the highest scoring Maine resident in each class or category. Trophies and pins and plaques etc to these folks that may or may not also earn punches.
Very well attended and the program seems to be agreeable to all.
