Dubob,

Thx, but I'm aware of the rule, I was playing along with the discussion line taking place.

When I'm ref on a station, you're not going to see any targets for show unless your gun is unloaded. But if somehow you did, and the gun fired, it's going to get scored and warned for safety.

Dubob, I agree with your assessment on live rounds, what are your thoughts about the OP question, can he put in snap caps?
If during a registered event, that would be at the discretion of the referee. I would be inclined to not allow it.

If I were the referee, it would NOT be scored and a warning would be issued.

Agreed. No solid reason to allow it, several good reasons not to.

If you were the first shooter up in a main event on a particular station, when calling for a show pair, can you have snap caps loaded or once fired hulls loaded to view the show pair and pull the trigger like you would on the first pair when ready to shoot? There is no live ammunition and you are trying to replicate the actual move you will make and pull the trigger at your break point. You would show the trapper your snap caps and tell him what you are doing. Would this be within the existing rules?

4th down, no offense intended at all, but anyone that dependent on snap caps or empties, isn't the type of person likely to get invited to be on my squad again.

There just isn't good reason to use snap caps or empties for show pairs.

Not a registered competitor here but my thoughts are:
Loading anything into the gun would minimize safety. With all else that you’re thinking of. It would be possible to load a live round instead.
And, there is the possibility of having a snap cap or empty in the gun when it’s time to shoot for score.
Just seems like a bad habit to start.
