I know that for 12 gauge maximum PSI is 11,500. What is the maximum allowed using the older LUP standard? Also what is LUP the acronym for?

LUP = lead units of pressure. It amounted to how much a lead "crusher" got compressed by a piston from the forces during firing.
There is NO way of comparing it to "PSI" readings, which use an electronic strain-gauge measurement.

I read in a shooting mag lately, that the differance is not enough to make a differance, but don,t take my word for it, you know what they say about what you read?

fuzzy,
The MAX LUP is whatever is listed for the load data you are wanting to use out of a data booklet.
If you find a load you want to use and it's listed as a pressure in LUP, then that's max.
You don't have LUP pressure testing equipment anyway. It's a moot point!
I don't know that there even is a LUP pressure max. That's been obsolete since Hector was a pup. He's been dead now nigh on 10 years, and he was an old dog then when he died!
Don't get all wrapped arround an axle regarding LUP. It was more or less like the SWAG pressure testing process anyway!

Fuzzy, from Lyman manual #1: the maximum L.U.P. for ALL gauges was 10,500 L.U.P.
