Looking for an approved 1300 fps load for the 28 gauge HS hull..cannot find one using available components and powders customary for this hull...Recommendations welcomed.

The Alliant data for ProReach is garbage. I had loads pressure tested and they came back way off... to the tune of about 4,000psi over published.

Simsy9. Thanks for that information regarding Pro Reach. I have been trying to locate some for a long time because I too wanted to get to 1300 fps. I won't look so hard now.

Longshot has some 28 possibilities to 1300 fps but not all component combinations are listed. Look at Longshot data to see if anything there works with your components.

Dano had a thread awhile back that reported on patterning results which indicated getting 1300 fps solved the hot core patterns he tested. You might want to search for that thread.

I've been using Pro Reach in my hunting loads for several years at velocities over 1300 fps as confirmed by chronograph. No problems whatsoever.

Thanks Casonet, seems there is some conflicting info re: Pro Reach powder. What components are you using in those 1330 fps loads?? ie: hull, wad, primer, specifics please....Thanks, Honer

I stick to the ones recommended by Hodgdon. I chronograph my loads for actual velocity

The fastest 28 ga. AAHS loads I see published by Hodgdon are 1275 fps. It sounds like this is the type of load you are using but are getting higher velocities than advertised (which could be attributable to a number of factors, including different chronographs used).

I also load Cheddite hulls according to a BPI recipe called "Pheasant Buster" which gets me way over 1300 fps with Pro Reach.

I can see this in a straight walled hull like the Cheddite. But I suspect it is exceedingly difficult with the more volume constrained AAHS, which the OP is asking about.

A shooting buddy offered me 5x 1lb cans of Pro Reach three or four years ago and I bought them. I haven't really looked for it since then. Longshot seems to be similar and does seem to be generally available. I've heard about some of the Alliant powders being hard to get even now; 2400 for example.

17 grs of Proreach , 3/4 oz, and 2834 duster wads in a HS hull. Haven't chronyed them but they crush clays out to 40 yrds. Data says 1300 with Win 209 and not at max load. Was some 1 lbers online at a few sites recently.

Nice looking load! Beautiful crimp. I'm looking at the Alliant Reloaders Guide on line right now. Plugged in AAHS 28 ga, Pro Reach powder, 3/4 oz of shot, all wads and all primers. I'm looking at six recipes, all at or over 1300 fps. Did nobody look here or am I missing something?

Yes, Pro Reach is next to unobtainable. I did see some 1 lb canisters for sale but you have to add on has mat, etc. I'm with you on this. I'm going to ask my range to order me some Pro Reach (might take a while to get) and get me some of them Duster Wads. Makes me want to shoot some of them at the sporting clays range.

I also had a hard time finding Pro-Reach so I went with Longshot . I use 15.5 grs
in a CF hull with 3/4 oz in a SG28 wad , it's not a 1300 ft load but it wacks pigeons
out past 40 yds .

BPI has two loads using Win AA HS, in Advantages, driving 7/8oz to 1265 and 1275:
50905-H4
50729-832L
using SG28II and HV28. Drop the shot to 3/4oz and these will well exceed 1300fps. Use Steel and Lilgun powders.
