This is a pictorial guide for cleaning and lubricating the sizer collet in Mec Progressive presses. The collet and closer for the early Mec presses will look different than that in my pictures. The principles remain the same.

Lubricating and cleaning Mec sizer collets <<<<Link!

This is a guide with pictures to help the user find the cause of Mec Progressive presses wanting to bind on the down stroke or the press is squashing the rim off of the hulls.

What is wrong with my press, why does it bind when trying to size the hull? <<<<Link

Here is an addendum to the question about binding of the press that only occurs when there is a hull in station three( Wad seating)

Why does my press bind when there is a hull in station 3 and how can I stop it?<<<<Link

This piece is for those folks that have trouble seating Non Remington primers into once fired Remington hulls, If you are not having this trouble, than no need to visit. Just remember where you read it :D

Why can I not get my non Remington primers to seat into my Remington hulls?<<<<LINK

This is a guide for setting your Powder drop tube, so that you do not get spurious locking of the charge bar, OR failure to lock the bar with no hull present in the prime station

How do I fix my bar lock so that it locks and releases at the correct time, I am tired of spills or empty shells?<<<<LINK

Here is a thread that combines information about the setting of a new Mec Primer feeder and the new method of clamping the powder drop tube/ primer setting tube.

When should I set the primer to drop with my new high capacity Mec Primer Feeder, and how do I stop the primer setting tube from slipping
<<<<LINK

All of a sudden the trip for the shell indexer is tripping long before the shell is fully lifted. Thanks to DL Marcum and Steve Y

Why is my 9000 model MEC tripping the index at the wrong time<<<<Link

My primers are sticking up too high in station 2 and the hull snags the primer

Things to check if the primer snags the hull when going into the #2 position<<<<Link

What is the sequence of operation when starting up the loading process and how are the bar locks supposed to operate?

This is a link to that very question on bar locking operation and loading sequence when prepping the press <<<<Link

I just got a mec 9000 or a Grabber press, what should I have on hand for spare parts

Here is a link to a starter spare parts list for the Mec 9000 press<<<< Link

"I am told that you have a guide to making a nice baffle." I was told about this by a forum member and I made mine this way. I forget who to credit for this.

Here you will find the way that I make a nice baffle. <<<< Link

No pictures but Steve Y wrote up a procedure for removing the Shell Carrier from a Mec Progressive. Click the link below.
How to remove a Mec progressive press's shell carrier.

How to remove a Mec progressive press's shell carrier. <<<<Link

How do I make my crimps form without a hole or a swirl

My crimp has a hole or a swirl all the time. How do I fix that? <<<< Link

If you want more of these on a Mec related topic, send me a PM and I will work on itMaybe

Just put this thread in my Favorites folder. If you have a section on adjusting the auto-rotation it would be useful. Thanks

I am curious as to what you need explained that is not covered in the manual.
http://www.mecreloaders.com/documents/o ... s/9000.pdf
Page 30 and 31

This is one of the better explained processes in the manual. Really don't see how to improve it unless I am just missing something.

I got a well used 9000 about 8 months ago. I scan down the list and it seems like I have referred to every one of these (some of them several times) already, except the one on the large primer feed. I don't have the large feed. Some day I will, and no doubt I will be looking at this last remaining item.

Thank you, Curly!

It is always a pleasure to help and the thanks are truly appreciated. They don't cost a thing, but a lot of folks won't give them away.

Are you referring to the taper die on the Grabbers and 9000s.If this is where your bulge is occurring, just raise the die in 1/4 turn steps until the bulge goes away. No "cam" adjustment needed here.

What press are you asking about? If it is a press with three stations to crimp, then the previous post is correct. Just insure that the sidewall buckle is occurring in the final tapering die and not in the main crimper, the one after the precrimper.

Also your problem may not be the press, please list entire load recipe including which hull that you are using.

Gator mark:
If your recipe includes "AAHS" the answer can be a bit more complicated than tweaking the press. When you say "bulge" do you mean flared out a bit at the crimp or wrinkles/buckles/bulges about an inch above the rim?
