My local guy still has it for $38 - $37 if you get 10 or more bags. BUT, I've been buying quite a bit a from Cabela's because it actually worked out to be a bit less when all things are considered... no hour and a half round trip, no sales tax, and usually with one of their many "special" discounts. Last time I got some from Cabela's I figured it cost me just over $36 a bag....plus the cost of a Starbucks card for our UPS guy as a thank you for hauling a few hundred pounds up to the door.
:D

Ya I bought 10 bags last week with 10 percent discount and free ship
Glad I did.. I guess with Austin Dillon winning with the #3 Cabelas car at Daytona. They could have given us a brake. Maybe they need the money to get to the next race.

the price of lead has been hanging out around 1.16 spot price for a while now.
it keeps trying to go up but then crashes and climbs right back up to about that price range again.
shot usually runs about double spot price.

That would put shot at about $58/bag. I've not heard of anyone paying that much.

I just today bought Eagle for $37.95 at Guns Unlimited in Omaha. For cash and 5 or more bags it is $37.00. They also have W209 primers for a CASH price of $119/5000.

it would put the price up that high and I don't know why shot hasn't followed suit.
I know it didn't come down when lead was hanging out at 75-80 cents for better than a year not too long ago.

My 'go-to' location as well, Cabella's is a total rip-off IMO

Not if you catch sales and promo codes

Cabelas seems to be an outlier here in terms of increasing their price for shot. No one else seems to be doing it. Cabelas may have discovered it was losing its shirt on the stuff when they have a 10% off with free shipping promotion going and sales of Eagle shot spike, along with their UPS bills.

Or, the bean counters at BASS are trying to get prices at both places in line with one another

Even at $42.99 they're still the cheapest shipped price, for 2 bags, I can find, and beats the local price by a few bucks.

There is more to their changes. I have enjoyed the Vets discount over time..... now to get the discount I need to go to the store..... Fine, its 250 miles East or 264 miles to the West. To make up for this they offered a one time $20 credit for online purchase....... great, till you attempt to purchase and find out if you take advantage of the $20 you have to pay the freight........ I sent in an inquiry but I expect no answer....... Larry

I bought a bunch from Cabela's during one of their 10% off plus free shipping deals. Got 5% extra off for being a veteran and I think the final price was about $33.50/bag shipped.

OBTW, As of 2/28/18 the online veteran discount is going away and it's back to being in-store only. Since the nearest "C's" is in E. Hartford, CT and since is in CT it is therefore off limits for ammo purchase without one of their special permits. So I have only visited that store once about 7 years ago. No plans to ever return in the future.

I always try and support the small 'mom and pop' gun stores over Cabella's. As mentioned earlier their sales are the only time they are price competitive.

I would also try to support mom & pop LCS's, however they seem to feel like I owe them an extra few $'s just for being my local M&P LCS. Most make Cabela's seem cheap with powder at $35 - $40/lb. Lead isn't stocked or is $50/bag.

I get my shot through my club. Since they buy targets by the truckload, reloading supplies are also put on the truck - no shipping added and no hazmat either. The club gets a few buck out of the total, but the final price is the same before adding shipping (or hazmat for primers and powders)
