used 20/28 loading from the alliant website reported to be 1250fps. forget the recoil difference, these things gave fantastic breaks, even at moderately long distance! gun was choked LM/M. not many weak breaks, most were crushed. i am absolutely sold on this load. if you haven't tried them i strongly recommend it.

I'm a new convert as well. A friend at my gun club helped me reconfigure my MEC Super 600 for 3/4 oz loads and they hit just as well on the skeet field as the normal factory load do. Given the current shortage of reloading components, I'm pretty happy with this load.

Hopefully in a few days, I will also be loading 20 ga 3/4 oz loads using Green Dot. I've got some hard #8.5 shot on order to use instead of #8's.
Sounds like you are happy with the 1250 fps load. Any thoughts of backing off the velocity to 1200 fps or so in search of tighter patterns?
Fred

I use Universal for 20 and either Titewad or Extra-Lite in 12 with the same choke constrictions. In my 12, at 16 yards, the pattern was a tad over 1 foot in diameter

Fred Fred i was really happy with these loads on the longer stuff today. as of right now i'm not feeling like i need to tighten them up at all. will try to get to another course in the coming weeks with some longer presentations.

Now, I'm really curious. Just how far are you breaking birds? Thoughts on using #8.5's?

I've loaded Winchester AA's with 20/28 powder, winchester primers, and CB-1075-20 (green) wads and 3/4oz #8.5 shot. The powder drops are 14.7 +/- .1 and that is a great skeet or 5 stand load for me. Again, JMO

8.5s are great for most shots up to 25-35 yards or so

currently only have 410 loaded with 8.5. might try a batch for the 3/4oz 20 but honestly i feel like i had plenty of pellets today. anything further out i surely wouldn't want to drop down in pellet size so i think the 8's are right for the job .
i'm not the best judge of distance but i'd guess nothing past 40yds. the very close stuff like a rabbit off a ramp at 15yds could be missed if i got lazy. to me that says the pattern was reasonably tight in close. i'd be plenty content to shoot these loads in any sub gauge event.

I shoot 20ga 3/4oz. 9' [email protected] in skeet all the time, fills the pattern nicely and 9's are no problem at skeet ranges. In the past I was practicing some 40yd crossers with 81/2 shot. When I went out to pick up my missed birds I found about a 1/2 dozen targets unbroken with 3-5 pockmarks on them from the shot. The targets that broke looked great but it was obvious to me 40yds was a bridge too far for the 81/2's.

Just started reloading 20ga,, Been reloading 410 & 28 ga,,, Having problems with reloading 7/8oz load with the WAA hulls with stack height. Picked up 500 Rem STS hulls and there working out awesome. Will save the WAA hulls for the 3/4 oz load. Just got the new 3/4oz slide bar so haven't had the time to try it out yet, Using 20/28 powder @ 15.7 drop = 1200fps

Tailchaser: FWIW I've loaded 20ga AA's with 15.5 of 20/28 powder and CB-1078-20 wads and 7/8oz of #8.5 shot and never had a problem with stack height. In fact I did that same load with Unique which is a bulkier powder and never had a stacking issue. Maybe your having an issue with your wad or setting the wad deep enough. Again, JMO

3/4 oz 20s can be very effective. Remember it’s not just the shot weight, close targets open chokes best use #9 Long targets need heavier shot = 7 1/2 and also need tight chokes to maintain pattern density . Split the difference use IC # 8 & one load all targets better to load 7/8 oz.

Again, JMO I’ll check the wad setting again, even tried to push the wad down with a pencil after station 2 and the seemed seated pretty good (not to much pressure). As of now the Rem hulls are working great, thanks for the info.

3/4 oz 20's pattern better than does 7/8 oz. The same holds true for 5/8 oz in 28 ga....

Shot a quick round yesterday and had two boxes of AA SS to use along with my reloads. Man what a difference in recoil! These 3/4oz make the gun so much more pleasant to shoot. Just received 2k newer AA once fired hulls. My 9000 was leaving me holes in the center of the crimp. Pic shows newer hulls vs the older AA I’ve been using. Tried lowering the crimp starter and now back to closed crimps! Still a little dished but I don’t think I need to add Cheerios or something like that. I guess now I’m stuck using the newer hulls?

I'm like you, only 3/4oz 12ga loads. They'll break birds out to 49yds with just LM/LM in my old SxSs. 3/4oz is all I load in 12, 20, and 28ga.
