Anthony, I'm wondering if you have changed your philosophy at all since you released your DVD? I'm thinking primarily of starting with the gun off the shoulder. It does seem like more and more top shooters are starting off with the gun already mounted to the shoulder. When I took a lesson from you maybe 3 or 4 years ago you were pretty adamant that I start with a low mount. Do you still feel the same way?

I start with the gun out of the pocket when time allows. The gun maybe 1-5 inches from my face depending on how much time I have. I still suggest un-mounted for most shooters for crossing style targets. Un-mounted being defined as the recoil pad starting lower than where you plan in to be when you fire. The difference between this and just a head up approach in that the hands are moving to mount the gun insync with the clay.

I would agree there are more people shooting with the gun "closer" to their face. But to me the following shooters are all un-mounted shooters by my definition when time allows:

Myself
Gebben Miles
Wendel Cherry
Derrick Mein
Richard Faulds
Brad Kidd
David Radulovich
George Digweed
Matt Fisher
Cory Kruse

Good topic I'm sure this should get some questions.

Many thanks. I've always (as a former skeet shooter) been a pre-mounted shooter but have been working at holding the gun more out of the pocket. I do like the feel it gives me holding it a bit off my shoulder, having the weight of the gun in my hands lets me feel a little more connected.
