13-year-old missing Arizona girl in danger, police won’t issue Amber Alert
TUSCON, Arizona
-- FBI and other agencies are searching for 13-year-old Ashley Kingsbury who went missing from Arizona and may have been taken to Utah by a 19-year-old man Jordan Anthony; her family is up in arms that police won’t issue an Amber Alert.
The two are expected to be traveling in a silver 2000 Hyundai Elantra, Utah license plate Z754UV. Scroll down for a description of Ashley.
Police believe Ashley left of her own accord which is why they won’t issue the Amber Alert. However, they do admit she is in danger.
The circumstances surrounding her disappearance would appear she was forced to leave rather than leaving of her own free will. There was broken glass and dents in the walls of her bedroom.
Her purse was still there. Her cell phone was still there. Her makeup was still there. All of her clothes and personal belongings were still there.
The only thing missing is Ashley. Most 13-year-old girls would not leave without those things. It’s been proven time and again.
The first hours and days when a child is missing are the most crucial. Not issuing an Amber Alert when police have a description of the man and his car, and say the girl is in danger, is understandably disturbing to this family.
Police believe because Ashley was talking to the 19-year-old boy online that she went willingly with him.
She’s only 13 years old. She is in danger, whether she left of her own free will or not. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has Ashley listed as “nonfamily abduction.”
If she is considered “abducted” why would they not issue an Amber Alert?
“Her cell phone being on the floor, and glass being on the floor. From what we understand there’s some dents on the wall and things like that,” her family says.
A KVOA news reporter agreed that it’s not just the damage left behind that has family feeling skeptical. It’s also everything else left behind that wasn’t broken.
“She didn’t take anything with her. There’ s no belongings missing including her makeup, clothes, everything is here, there’s nothing gone,” her family says.
The police department said they’re investigating all of that but with the meeting set up online it didn’t fit the criteria to have an Amber Alert.
The family could not be more terrified and nervous with every call that comes in. “My heart beats faster and I just pray that it’s her on the other line,” her mother says.
It’s a feeling, KVOA says, this family never thought possible.
“Unbearable, unthinkable, we just want our daughter to come home."
To Ashley, if you are able to see this Will Kingsbury has sent you a message:
“Ashley everyone is worried about you!! If u r scared call me 210 387 8489 I'll go get u and get u home!! Please contact us!! Ur mom and dad r so worried!!”
Stephanie Ochoa said:
“Ashley, baby come home. Don’t b scared no one is mad we just need to know your at least okay baby girl … you call me if you want Ash 520-661-0596. Please call your mom and dad. Love you girl and we all miss you.”
Ashley’s birthday is Friday.
