I learned a long time ago that arranging them chronologically is not helpful. Therefore, I have hundreds of folders with subject matter. Then I have other folders inside folders. It may not be the way someone else might like it, but I can usually find an individual pic, out of tens of thousands, in a very short time.

Photobucket was similar.

I got a notification over the weekend - so it is taking them time to scrub through. My images are still up but I suspect not for long.

It got me last week. PB sucks anyways. The site is always slow with problems. Been meaning to switch, now I will. Lets be real, few if anyone is going to start paying them. Instead, PB will just get less clicks. That will be less advertising revenue, and soon PB will go the way of AOL and Yahoo.

I was going to suggest to everyone to use Dropbox for hosting but they have also made similar changes and now it is not an option either. Really crappy because I freaking pay for it!

Just post them to this SGW forum for photos!

You can make as many folders as you like.

There may be a couple of extra steps compared to PB; but it works for me!

You misunderstand, we CANNOT use Dropbox. Seems all these companies are tired of paying for server space for people's cat videos and SGW. [FACE WITH STUCK-OUT TONGUE AND WINKING EYE]

It really does make the most sense for forums to house the pictures it displays.

I would be nice if SGW had newer software with easy direct uploads and photo posting.

It would be better if folks just tried a little bit and learned how to do it. It is fairly easy.

No, it doesn't make sense at all, unless the forum is already a photo hosting site.

As big as it is, SGW is tiny compared to Photobucket and other picture hosting sites. Site like PB have thousands of terabytes of storage. They have hundreds of servers to store originals and backups. If a forum were to allow direct posting of pictures it would increase in size by 100 fold overnight. Further, if you think it's slow now, hosting images would slow it to a crawl and no one would want to post here at all.

No, it would take a huge investment in equipment and they'd have to hire a full time staff. That's not gonna happen.

I'm fond of using the free program, Google Photos, that can be set to automatically upload all the photos I take and put on Windows 10 Photos. Here's one straight from Google Photos, by clicking "copy image address' and then inserting between IMG hash marks on this page.

Image

Google Photos, keeps the originals in the cloud, and it's free up to 15MB size,,,which is huge,,,,and then a smaller photo of about one or two MB size is downloaded on your computer so you can see it. Anytime you want the originals, they are in the cloud, but the downloaded photos are really good enough for almost any purpose.

Rastoff: you do realize that SGW does host photos don't you?

See to the right of the home button on the top menu bar where it says "PHOTOS"???

If trying to post the pic itself a no go. Click the next to last option link to post the photo itself and not just the link.

I use Google Photos - it is unlimited and free (with a few caveats):

Is the gotcha all that's displayed is a white dash in a gray circle?
