I have recently bought a mossberg 935 and am concerned about the gas vent system, how much muzzel velocity is lost if any, in the gas vent system compared to the mossberg 835 pump, I have both and have used pumps for almost 40 years, if someone can put some light on this it would be very helpful Thanks.

I think in pratical terms the answer to your question is "almost zero". I don't think the gas venting systems drop velocity much on autoloaders. The big overbore on the 935 might drop velocity a little, but probably improves patterning enough to make up for it.
I don't much believe that small changes in muzzle velocity makes much difference in killing power. Kind of shot, shot size, shot amout, evenness of patterning are the variables that I think do. The faster you start the shot, the quicker it looses velocity, so the retained velocity difference at 50 yards is less than the difference in original muzzle velocity anyway. That is even more true with steel shot than lead or hevishot.

I bet that 935 is a real killer.

Actually the 10 ga bore on the 935 will give you an average of 50-60 fps increase in muzzle velocity over a standard bored (.729) 12 ga gun.
I didn't believe it myself, i thought with gas leaking it'd lose velocity, but i've run my 835 over the chronograph with many, many different loads, steel, traget, etc. and the 10 bore will give you the 50-60 fps increase.that more than makes up for any minor loss that would come from the gas system if any loss occurs at all,
I'm sure your 935 shoots faster than any other 12ga made except perhaps the Mossberg 835 pump.
