Any help to ID the maker of a cane shotgun is greatly appreciated.
The Mark is a crown over and oval shape. Over the crown is the letter W with a star above it. Within the oval is E over LG with a star below the LG.
Also 410-65 and the number 104 all marked on the inside workings of the barrel.
Any help please.
Regards ED

Without NFA paperwork, the only thing it's worth is a trip to the slammer.

That's good to know and I would be interested in knowing about any "collector laws" in regards to this item as well as more info about NFA paperwork. Thanks for the heads up.
I really am interested in who the maker is.

The w with star is an inspection mark, the oval is a Belgian proofmark. Maker unknown.

Well I received good information from all. It is a proof mark from Belgium. It is VERY illegal. Class 3, "other", Cain Guns. I have advised the owner, who inherited the gun, that she needs to apply for a registration, $5.00, from ATF.
Beyond that I told her that nobody can even hold the gun without being in violation. Up to $250,000 fine and other losses.

Seems a bit harsh for what is really a collector item.
Thanks for keeping me out of the middle. :D

The ".410 65" indicates the gauge at .410 and the chamber length as 65 mm, the equivalent of 2 1/2 ". There is usually a four figure number giving the barrel weight in grams. The ELG is the mark of the Proof House in Liege.

The Belgians made a zillion .410s of all sorts of configurations ... folding, skeleton stock, disguised a walking sticks, all for "collectors". This last is a euphemism for "poacher"!!
