Any reason #5 Nice shot thru a full choke in my 16 ga would not be effective against a turkey? It is 1 1/8 oz load. Of course it should be patterned but the load should work, right? But there are ducks on the box, so it "cannot" work for anything else.

It should work great. I bet the pattern is super tight. I'd love to see a testimonial picture after you bag the big one.

Pattern, pattern, pattern. This shot was developed to throw very even patterns, not very tight ones. Yes, it pattern tightly, but as the demo on the website shows, turkey chokes may create irratic patterns with it.

That having been said, #5 would be the shot size I would try. The 1 1/8 oz 12 gauge loads I've opened contained 217, 218, 220 and 221 pellets. My scales put the pellet weights at about 2.3 grains - similar to a steel #4, but obviously much denser material (that being the point of tungsten based shot). I would think that load in your full choked 16 gauge would throw a heck of a pattern, but put it on a turkey target first to make sure!

#5 out of your 16 to a turkeys head means good eating!

But all joking aside pattern checking is key.

Thanks everybody!

My 73 year old dad shot this today with his 20 gauge shooting nice shot #6, pattern great out to 35 yards. He shot it this morning at 7:30 while it was snowing(crazy weather). It came in to 25 yards along with two jakes.
