The white boxes with the red Super-X if Western or the yellow Super-X if Winchester first appear in the 1972 catalogs. That was the end of Winchesters being Super-Speed. The AAs had been in the white boxes with the red and yellow differentiation from their introduction in 1965. The Upland shell replaced the Winchester Ranger and Western Xpert for 1971, coming in a white box with the red and yellow differentiation for Western and Winchester.

For 1975 the white AA boxes began being marked Winchester-Western and were accented in red. For 1980 the Super-X and Upland followed suit.
