Purchased a full set of Muller chokes for my Beretta UGB25. I have tried hand tightening as well as using a choke wrench, but they keep loosening. I do lightly lube them with QMaxx Blue before installation.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Peter

I give mine a check after each station (Sporting) and do it without even thinking about it. No big deal IMO :)

Try using a grease instead of an oil. On a 28 gauge Rem 1100, I had to use white teflon plumber's thread tape to keep the chokes from coming loose after a few shots.

Did you try calling Jimmy and asking him about it?

Thanks, I'll do that when I get the gun back from the gunsmith (stock came loose last shoot and the previous owner rounded off a screw that holds the adjustable butt plate on).

Oil loosens chokes.
Grease helps dampen harmonic vibration.
Use grease and my Choke wrench and lock them in.
It will solve your issue.

I followed the recommendation from the muller website to use QMaxx Blue.

Can anyone recommend a grease to use?

edit: I have some STOS. Is that suitable for this purpose? Or would you recommend something else?

"The only products we recommend for cleaning any of our chokes are the following"
QMaxx® - Black Diamond™ to clean and Blu™ to lube.
Rem Oil™
Super Lube™

...Right from MULLERs web site.

Yes, and that is why I bought QMaxx Blu. But now I am being told I am doing it wrong and need a grease.

Also from the website:
Code:
Do I need to Grease or Oil the threads?

It is always a great idea to keep lube on your barrel threads to avoid rust or corrosion from the weather. Muller Competition Chokes are 100% covered in ceramic, therefore they can never rust or corrode. While our Waterfowl Chokes are coated with military grade Cerakote and are more rust and corrosion proof than anything else out there, it is a great idea to use a high quality product. We recommend QMaxx Blu as a lube.

Shooter's Choice, RIG and similar gun-named greases all work well, as doesw Never-Seize. Any good, non-migrating auto grease will also do the job.

The grease helps deter rust and corrosion from forming on the choke threads in the barrel. I have found that if you remove your chokes and wipe them down and re-apply the Qmaxx Blu after shooting you should be good to go. Shooter's Choice Choke grease is what I was using prior to using the Qmaxx Blu and it worked fine just a little messy. I don't think you can go wrong with either product.
