DeuceDeuce_22, love your updates! Please keep them coming. I've been entertaining a Hunter Ex myself. Also, if you could post some close-up pics, especially of the furniture, that would be great!!

Deucedeuce_22, how's your Tristar holding up? Anyone else with a Tristar, please feel free to report on your experiences.

I have the 20 ga. While I don't have as many rounds through it as some because I don't shoot trap I use it for waterfowl so am using loads heavier than what most are shooting. After 8 years no problems yet.

I don't think he is around anymore, he has not logged in since April of 2014.

I have the Setter S/T 28" Over/Under made in the last year or so after they switched production from Arthemis to Kral and it is very well built.
I have 2,185 shells through it and it's holding up well. I did have a firing pin break at 1,080 rounds and a quick call to TriStar had one shipped to me free in a few days. 5 min job to replace. Overall very happy with it.

I just got a Tristar ou ex and the gun is very light...about 6.5 pounds. With 1 1/8 loads and 3 drams, my shoulder felt like it was going to come off.
I added weight in the stock and on the barrel to about 7.5 pounds, which helps the recoil. The gun still kicks hard. I’m looking for 7/8 loads to see if it feels better.
Overall, it locks up nice and the mechanical trigger should be good w lighter loads....

Overall very happy with it. I’ll do another update on mine then although it’s not super informative since I only have another hundred rounds through it since the last time. The gun is shooting fine after the firing pin replacement but shortly after I posted above I purchased a Beretta 686 onyx pro that I’ve been shooting for the last year or so. For the money, the Tri-Star has been pretty good. No obvious signs of wear. Mine is the Setter S/T and one of the more modern versions after they moved to a different Turkish factory. The earlier ones had more issues from what I could tell. Mine made by Kral.

I stopped doing a round count on my tristar in 12 gauge because I got a browning. However, my tristar still shoots good...still a lot of recoil w 1 1/8 oz loads. It is a Wally World special but the fit and finish looks great and the gun has seems about 1000 rounds without a problem.
