Escort PS 20g 26" BL/SYN
Weatherby 20 Gauge Semi Automatic w/26" Black

The Escort doesn't say whether 3" or not.

Of the two I would buy the Weatherby.

The Turkish Weatherbys are well regarded it seems, but I think I would prefer the Escort. The Hatsan-built Escorts offer features the Weatherby offerings do not - these include, reversible safeties for LH use, magazine cutoffs, and 3/8" dovetail receivers. The Escort semi-autos I've handled seem to fit me better than the Weatherby guns (I'm not a big guy at 5'5"), and based on my own experiences with Escort, and what I've read from various sources, I would trust one to run every bit as well as the other, which is to say, quite well. The Weatherby models may be a bit nicer in the finish department, but I think the Escorts offer more features & built-in value for the money. That 20 gauge should definitely be rated for 3" shells, and I believe the Escorts are rated for steel and/or have chrome-lined barrels...

Kind Regards,

~ SH ~

P.S. The Escort series includes youth and female-shooter specific models with differing stock patterns and fit/LOP adjustability. Legacy Sports is the importer, and they are quite responsive to messages on their facebook page should you have any questions: https://www.facebook.com/LegacySportsIn ... l/?fref=ts

Hi,

I own a12ga Escort. I use it just for nasty weather waterfowl work. Over all it's been a decent gun. I have had problems with the pin that holds the extractor in place. It drops down a bit and then prevented the bolt from going all the way forward and locking. This prevents it from firing of course. I finally replaced the solid pin with a split spring roll pin. I hope that holds.

Things I do like is the shims for adjusting cast and drop. I was able to get a nice fit for a lefty. The crossbolt safety is easy and quick to reverse for lefthand use. But Escort does offer a lefthand version, just didn't know about them until after I bought mine.

I'm not a real big fan of black plastic furniture, and the stock does feel a bit thin to me. But I did want the weather proof aspect. It is a bit on the light side for the heaviest waterfowl loads. You will know you shot something.

I have also had a bit of trigger time with the Weatherby SA08. Another good gun that has a well earned reputation as being a dependable SA. As nice my Escort is, the SA08 is a noticable amount better. If I didn't have the Escort, I would buy the Weatherby over the Escort.
