Has anyone seen the inside of an AKUS/S&W/Dickinson trigger-plate action? Or pictures? Or even a schematic? Or know anything about who engineered it, and when?

There was a magazine review of the Dickinson within the last couple of years that had a picture of the trigger plate showing how all the action parts with the exception of the firing pins are situated on the trigger plate. I couldn't find it on my web search, but I do remember seeing it. A search of the web for trigger plate action will get you pictures of them, just not the Dickinson. I'm not sure when the trigger plate action was pattented, but they have been around for a long time, mainly only on very high end shotguns. The big advantage of the trigger plate is the ability to make a very slender round round action that is a delight to carry and shoot. The Dickinson can be considered a major breakthrough in shotguns for incorporating a trigger plate action on an affordable shotgun.

Here are two reviews of the Dickinson shotguns I found with a quick google search. Both mention the trigger plate action, but there is very little information given.

The best I have been able to determine from limited research, the trigger plate action was invented by John Dickson, a Scottish gun maker, sometime in the late -1800s (1887?). There is a Facebook page dedicated to Dickson shotguns.

There are several photos of various trigger plate actions on the facebook page, including some variations on the original and a drawing of the original patent trigger plate action (1887). I'd post photos but Photobucket has become such a PITA and I haven't migrated photos to another site. Links below to some of the photos on the FB page.
