Hello I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for some advice on a new sporting clays shotgun. I have about $4000 to spend and have narrowed my choices down to 4 options. 1. Caeser guerini summit limited. 2. Blaser f16 sporting. 3. Browning citori 725 pro sporting. Or 4. Beretta 692. That being said I am open to other options in this price range. I'm trying to shoot as many as possible but have only been able to shoot the summit thus far. I appreciate any input. Also looking for a place that I could shoot more of these shotguns in the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York area. Thanks.

Don't exclude the Zoli Kronos......also in your $$ bracket.

I own a 692. I would not recommend it.
In Pa you have M&E near Hamburg, Lehigh Valley, rock mountain. In Nj you have M&M pensville, Cedar creek in Millville.

Thanks cheecho I'll have to take a look. Chrcall thanks. I go to Lehigh at least once a week that's where I shot the summit they don't have any others to try though. Do any of the other sporting clays places offer guns to try?

I own a 692 and would definitely recommend it. I wouldn't recommend the Browning. If you go that route, 8'spect it carefully. Far too many with poor ribs that lack straightness or have beads that aren't centered on the rib. The CG would be nice. Fabarm Axis RS12 (new version) is one I have heard great things about, but I haven't been able to handle one yet.

Definitely add the Zoli Kronos to your list.

As you mentioned Lehigh has a couple demo models. Last time I was out to M&E they had some used shotguns for sale, but no demos. It is worth a call to them though.
M&M in south Jersey hosts several large tournaments. I have heard there are a number of vendors at these shoots with demo guns. I plan to head down there for the Eastern Regional in May, hoping to try most of the guns on your list, plus the Zoli.

Depending on your personal sense of fit and feel narrow it down to Zoli, F16 or CG. They're all in a different league from the 'B' guns.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Thanks steamrocks I think I'm going to wait and see what I can shoot in may at m&m. Unless anyone knows of any other places to demo some guns on my list in the nj-ish area. Thanks.

Have you put the word out that you're in the market at any local clubs ? you would be surprised at how many offers you may get from folks to run a few rounds through there's.

Make sure to bring factory ammo to use and if it's just a few shells a nice touch is to offer the rest of the box to the owner for allowing you to try their gun.

Where in New Jersey are you located? May, Cheecho, you and I can meet up at Thunder Mountain or Some other range and all shoot. Between us I think we have you covered for O/Us to try.

Bob

Rkittine thanks. I'm located about 25 minutes north of Trenton about 10 minutes from the Delaware river. That would be great. I usually shoot at Lehigh valley sporting clays but I'm willing to drive. Thanks

Brodyrodweller - sounds like you are in the Hunterdon county vicinity. Clinton has a range where you can bring your own thrower. No comparison to Lehigh, but great place during the week and beats the drive out to PA.

I haven't shot Blaser F16 but... 6.8 lb for a sporting clays gun? No thanks. Seems awfully light so, unless you are planning to shoot 7/8oz, I don't know if you will be able to make it through a sporting clays course before you get tired. On the other choices... 692 is OK, didn't like 692's trigger and grip radius, and it is too close to much cheaper Silver Pigeon or 690. Browning 725 is OK, didn't like Browning's customer service. Caesar is a great gun and so is Zoli. I would go with the latter, preferably Z Sport like http://www.gunbroker.com/item/607731779. Another option to consider is Salvinelli L1 - for another grand you can get this nice Perazzi clone, http://www.gunbroker.com/item/609985173 for example.

Cheecho1960 I'm available any Wednesday or Sunday to go. I really appreciate this thanks guys. Streamrocks I do live in Hunterdon and have been to the Clinton range a few times. I go to Lehigh because of the target presentations. I can shoot clays at my house as I live on a small farm, so the Clinton range doesn't really offer me anything I can't do at my house. Thanks.
