Came across this gun today in almost perfect condition. All the reviews I've found are 8-10 years ago. What is the current opinion on this model? Worth getting? They were asking $500 at a gun show, which seemed a little high.

Guns a piece of crap. Barely worth half that.

Most would tell you that it is a model of gun that is not worth owning. I know Randy W. had some very harsh words to say about it. You might want to check with him and see.

The A500's were initially recalled. The A500 short-recoil guns became the A500R, and the A500G (gas) was made for a year or two. I bought a new A500G.

it's a good gun. I inherited one and have shot it for casual clays and hunting without issues.

Make sure the breechblock buffer isn't beat out of the receiver. This seems to be one of the most common problems with the A500's. I had one in a couple of months ago and had an awful time finding a replacement buffer.
