i was at the local rod and gun club today doing some sporting clays and after a wonderful fday shooting i decidedi to have a look around the trap competion area for some un broke re usable clays. while i was there i noticed a strange looking type of clay i later found was called a rabbit. i have sence seen videos of the shooting of such clays and was wondering has anyone got any experience and does anyone now if u need a special thrower for these clays as i assume u would ?

Yes, it's a thicker clay, made to withstand running across the ground ithout breaking and yes , you need a special thrower so that it hit the ground close to the machine and starts running. Alot of fun, and just like teals, they make some shooters crazy, but once you get the hang of it, they are alot of fun.

Same thrower just set up for throwing rabbits. Just when you get them down sometime they jump or are made to jump after hitting something on the ground. Love'em one of my favorite targets along with fast mini 60's. You get on a coarse that has a real variety of targets and presentations it is golden. Really fun day...

We shoot rabbit pairs. Fun when 3 or 4 pairs are smooth and then you get one of the rabbits to take a hop. It keeps you on your toes.

Tallow Creek will have one running out across the water, you gotta be quick, Shoot a tad in front and it looks like you flushed it down the toilet.

I hope you all realize that like yellow snow, you should not eat clay rabbits. There have no hair to get stuck between your teeth but they require several weeks of marinating before they'er tender.

At the club I shoot at the owner put a small wood pile about 2/3 of the way across the rabbit run. I'll be the first to admit I've made a couple logs a bit heavier. It is great fun and the wood pile makes for some added realism.

I have a love/hate relationship with the rabbits. fun great time, but some days you would swear they were made from steel.
