Depending on "what" and "where" either a Remington 870, a Grulla 206E SxS,
a Beretta DT10 O/U or Beretta 391 PT. Only rarely shoot steel and it's always
through the 870. Far prefer Kent Impact Tungsten Matrix for waterfowl.

Started off years ago with a Mossberg 500 12 ga. Gave it to my son and bought a Mossberg 930 12 ga. Had a Remington 870 Super Magnum that was used for turkey only, but my now ex wife sold it to buy dope (which is one of the reasons she is the ex wife).

Still have the 930, but it now wears a 18.5" barrel and is stoked with military grade 00 for defending the castle. My go to gun now for anything requiring a shotgun is a 3.5" Browning Citori Satin Hunter. I just adjust the ammo to fit my needs. It fits me a little better than the 930 (which fits very well), and I just plain shoot it better.

Hey Wirehaired, what's a Browning SBS?

I've seriously owned too many to remember. No, really, I had a problem.
I've pared it down to these:
Ithaca SKB 280 20ga
Ithaca 37 20ga
Benelli Ultralight 20ga
Remington 870 12ga
Got my eye on a few more, but haven't been able to "pull the trigger" on one yet.

The first was an 870 Express- it was what I could afford- still have it

Recently I've used a 1990 870 Special Purpose and a Beretta 391.

In the safe to try out this fall is a Cynergy 20ga.

I won't list the ones I no longer use or started off with. Nowadays, I use my Stoeger Uplander 20 gauge for rabbits, squirrel, and turkey and my CZ Mallard 20 gauge for doves and clay targets. I switch off between the 2 for pheasants depending on my mood and the terrain. That's about all I hunt with a shotgun. I don't waterfowl hunt and deer hunt with rifle, bow, and muzzleloader.

In the past, a Remington 1100 L.H. and a Remington 870 L.H. Both 12 gauge. Haven't hunted much lately.

1. H&R topper 58 12 gauge
2. Browning BPS
3. Mossberg 590
4. Stevens 350
5. Westernfield pump
6. Mossberg 500
7. Stevens 775a
8. SKB 500
9. Wingmaster

The H&R was my first (aka the punisher)

The 775a is small game, the mossy 500 for deer (or the 870) and the skb for trap/skeet

Do any of you guys have any advice for what to smear on a blue finish to take the shine off for waterfowl? I don't want something to sticky that might get transferred by accident to the shells and jam up the gun but obvi too thin will heat up, drip off, as well as get all over everything.

Okay. I got rid of the benelli in favor of a new Dickinson 20ga.
So, it is my go-to for the prairie and plains, the 280E is my go-to for timber birds, the 37 rides along for a backup, and the 870 is for deer/bear/ waterfowl.

I started with my first shotgun (16 yo), a New England Firearms Single shot 12 gauge and hunted this for years, then an 870 super magnum but preferred my single shot. Recently bought a 20 gauge Mossberg Silver Reserve II O/U which I am very happy with, but I see in the future, perhaps a Citori or Silver Pigeon...

Upland 20ga Weatherby PA-08, though I just bought a Benelli Ultralight 12 that has been really cutting into the Weatherby's time in the field.

Waterfowl, been out 3 times now, I couldn't stand to bring the prettier guns out to beat up in the mud and water after that first time so have a Benelli Nova for waterfowl work and haven't got a shot since I bought it.
