I just aquired this pre WW2 Browning A5 and was wondering the value. It has serial #909xx and is chambered for 2-9/16 shells. Steel is in good shape and their are no cracks in the wood.

Browning 16-gauge A5s in the 909xx serial number range entered the warehouse from the factory at FN during the first half of 1931. Records of when they were shipped or when Browning Arms Co. sold them are not available.

If you just "acquired" it in an arms length transaction, you know the "value" of it. The stock being cut and the recoil pad added definately reduce the value, and none of the pictures show us the muzzle. Along as that is the way it left FN and doesn't have a Poly-Choke on it, that is a good thing valuewise.

I aquired this gun from a deceased uncle and have it listed for sale at $1000.00. The muzzle is stock with no poly choke and it has a Browning recoil pad.

Yes, but that Pachmayr made Browning Recoil Pad is 35 to 80 years newer than that gun, and totally out of place to any serious A5 "collector."

A short chambered gun that's been altered is at best $350. I got one a couple years ago all original for $200.

$350.00 would be a top price for that gun.

T-Slim,

Does it look like it has been converted to 2.75" to you? Owner states 2 9/16".

I am no expert on 16's for sure.

It is a Grade 2 gun that will help it some.

Will

Just my $.02 but the condition is not great and the added recoil pad does reduce the value. I'd put it at about $250. $300 would certainly be top dollar.
