New listing today of a Standard 12 serial number #27043 with the hard to find Browning Brothers legend on the receiver. Looks good but am afraid the barrel isn’t original as the barrel ring does not have the ramp. Still a neat specimen.

Gun Broker # 726983482

Check it out!

I saw this earlier but lost interest because I thought it was a 12ga. I checked ot out. Its a 1923 16ga. At least the barrel is. This is the year they dropped the ramp.

It also has the old style straighter trigger. Time to contact the seller.

Goad,

Glad you caught the 16 ga part! I honestly looked right past the Mag cutoff placement. Makes more sense on the barrel ramp now. Are the Browning Brothers legend Guns really that few and far between?

Here's a genuine 12 ga, a first year A5 that just came up as well. Wood is butchered/non-original, and the gun has been re-blued, but it might make a nice project for someone who wants a straight stock early A5 shooter.

Yep, Very scarce. No example could be found for the S/V book. I read of about three that have surfaced. The prime years for them are 1923 and 1924 in both 12 and 16ga.

Rare dose not always translate into high dollar unless two deep pockets get into a bidding war. Many of us have seen that before. Bids go into the stratosphere out of either ignorance, ego, stubbornness or a combination of all three.

I have also been left thinking what did I miss, or did my ignorance let it get away?

I am still looking for an original forearm for a first year A5. I have yet to see one in the wild.

I wonder what the reserve is on this one?

The Japanese fore ends have the finger groove that doesn't go all the way to the end of the forearm, that is wht Arts uses on restoration with a correct finish put on them FYI
