Hey all,

I'm looking for a slip-on recoil pad for my H&R Topper Deluxe.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a specific model that fits well/works well on H&R Shotguns?

Limbsaver? Pachmayr? Specific Model/Size?

Thanks,
Sean

I like Limbsavers. See chart on the link http://www.limbsaver.com/firearms/recoil.php to see what size fits your gun. Mark

Hi oregunner. It looks like the size "small" is the correct size for the H&R Topper. That seems a bit odd but I roughly measured the back of the stock @ 1.5" x 4 5/8" (with factory recoil pad removed).

Do you agree that "small" is the correct size?

Thanks,
Sean

It looks like a small would fit without the original pad. Most people put a slip-on pad over what is already there, instead of taking the original one off. You said you wanted a slip-on pad. Maybe you would want to consider putting on a new screw-on pad instead of your original pad. It's harder to find one that fits (Check the template link http://www.limbsaver.com/technical/templates.php) or you have to get a grind-to-fit one and have it fitted. When you mount the gun, you should have about an inch, to an inch and a half, between your thumb and your nose. Changing the length of pull by using different or additional recoil pads will affect the LOP. Mark

Thanks oregunner.

I want to use the slip-on pad without the factory screw on pad because I want to be able to remove the recoil pad without tools. I've got 3 shells and a bit of jute twine (for use as tinder) stored in the bolt hole in the stock and I'd like to be sure I can get at them without a screwdriver.

I just reread that part. Thanks for that info. I'm new to shotguns (long guns in general) and that is helpful.

I just use the Walmart Limbsaver over the existing stock and buttplate. It makes the "pull" a bit too long but I only slip it on when I will be doing a lot of shooting.

Update: I just received my Limbsaver Slip-On Recoil Pad and replaced the stock recoil pad with it. The size SMALL fits great.
