Hello,

I am looking at a used Remington Wingmaster 870. It has been well cared for with few marks/scratches. The dealer is asking $300. Is this a good price for a late 1980s Wingmaster? I've never seen another used 870 at the store before to compare.

The other option is a new Benelli Nova for $399. I think I can assume you will all steer me toward the 870, though!

Thanks,
Jason

Production of the Model 870 was projected to pass the 8 million mark this year, so there are a lot of them out there. For a used garden variety 12-gauge $300 is probably on the high side. With so may variations of the 870 made in the last 58 years we'd need a lot more information to really make an informed comment.

I'd offer $250 and see what the dealer says. But as Researcher says without knowing details I'm just guessing.

rem choke gun, $300 is a fair price. 3" fixed choke gun with a modified barrel, $300 would be top dollar. 2 3/4" fixed choke gun, unless it is a trap or skeet $300 is high IMHO

Hello,

The gun is a fixed mod. choke, 28" barrel, 2 3/4" chamber. From what has been said, I guess $300 is a bit much.

I recently picked up a 3" Magnum (older gun), vent rib, fixed choke model I'd rate at 95%+ for $220, but it was a long distance buy.

I sold a M870TC with a factory hardcase in 95% ++ condition, fixed full choke and exceptional wood for $350. I also bought a 1988 12ga 2 3/4" M870 Wingmaster with Rem Chokes & VR in 90% condition for $200 with box, hang tag and owner's manual. My smith has a similar gun for $230 with a soft Remington case.
