Sorry Walt, here’s the pics you asked to see. Figured some others might like them too

Pre War 37 Trap Grades had the nicest checkering of any regular production pump gun ever. But that’s just my opinion.

This set was really dirty. Cleaned up well. Original finish.

Thanks Matt, I agree the prewar traps had the best checkering ever on a pump gun. I would leave it as is imho. I shot a 50 round sc at DeWitt's with my old 37 with a Polychoke. I think a slightly score than I usually get with my graded NIDs. The Polys really work!

What did you clean it with?

I use a combination of things. This one I just added a little Howard's Feed and Wax and worked in it in with #0000 steel wool and a soft nylon brush to get the dirt and grime out of the checkering. Wipe off with a soft towel. I just keep repeating that process until I'm satisfied.

I will do some more polishing on it to get rid of what fine scratches I can.

Yes, I think I'll leave this set as is. It's still in nice shape. Checkering is still pretty sharp.

So hard to find pre-war 37 trap grade wood.

Really nice results Matt. Is this the same gun that birdslyr was selling?

I thought so. A really nice addition to your collection. The extra S barrel came from my EBay stash.

p.s. Hi Walt. I hope you are doing well. I'm hoping that there will be a shoot again someday in your neck of the woods. It would be good to see all my fellow Ithaca shooters again.

Makes me happy to see it getting the attention it deserves from those who love it.
