I found a PDF from winchesterguns.com that indicates the Model 12Y ended production in 1979 at serial number 2026399. So what am I to make of the Model 12Y trap that I just got that has serial number 20266XX? It obviously falls outside the range of the table, so when would it have been made?

Winchester-U S Repeating Arms did a "last of the Model 12 series" in 1985. these guns were engraved in Italy but I did the pigeons on 95% of them. They were all sold through Jaquas. There were numbers running up where yours is. I have the list of the numbers.

This gun is dirt plain. There's no engraving anywhere on it. It does have fairly nice wood but otherwise there's no adornment.

It was probably a "clean up" gun that was put together around the same time period.

Pauline,
Thank you for your comments. I was hoping you'd weigh in on this one.
