Did Ruger ever make a 28 GA w/ 30" barrels?
With the trend towards longer barrels, why would Ruger have stopped making the 20 GA in 30" barrel lengths? And if they made it...the 28 GA as well?
I shot a 20 GA Ruger sporting clays the other night that had 30" barrels and the straight English stock....I thought it was a VERY nice gun.

My memory ain't what it used to be, but I don't recall Ruger offering 30" barrels on the 28 gage.

Did they ever offer the 28 in a sporting clays model? My bet is that would have been the best chance for a 30 inch.

To the best of my knowledge the only barrels offered on the 28 gauge Red Label have been 26 and 28 inch.

Have never heard of a 28 gauge Red Label Sporting Clays model

No, the only 28 gauge offerings were 26" and 28". I have the 28" version, it has plenty of barrel to reach out there.

Alright you primitive screwheads, listen up. See this? This is my boomstick! It's a twelve gauge double barreled Remington, S-Mart's top-of-the- line. You can find this in the sporting goods department. That's right for about $109.95. That's right.

I have a 20 gauge Sporting with 30" barrels and a PG stock, and I like it a lot. Have never seen a 20 Sporting with the English stock. Tried to buy an English wood set from Ruger a couple of years ago and they did not have any. If I could find the wood, I'd retrofit it to my gun.

Since we're talking barrels here, FYI...I have one of the first 20ga guns with fixed choke 26 inch barrels. Sometime ago I contacted Ruger and asked could I send it back and have them fit a set of 28 inch choke tube barrels. The answer was that they would not provide that service.

I have the same gun, and got the same answer. They would not sell me a set of barrels, either.

I have the same gun as claydoctor and Ducky's dad. It's working great right now because my 9 year old son is shooting it and the 26 inch barrels are great for him at his size, but I do wish that eventually I could lengthen the barrels to 28". I also have a 12 gauge Red Label with fixed skeet chokes and it has 28" barrels. When my dad bought both guns in the mid-late 1980's, the standard in 12 gauge barrels was 28" and 20 gauge was 26".

That's the only bad thing I can say about Ruger, they won't sale any restricted original parts to the public, and they have an awful lot of restricted parts on all their models. They want the gun sent back to them to have the part fitted to the gun at the factory.
