Would any of you fellows know where I can purchase very small tritium tubes in small quantities and differing colors? Any help is appreciated.

I'm not going to question your motives, but trying to buy tritium "could" land you in a world of hurt. At the very least, it could land your name on some lists with some not-so-savory folks. You do know it is used in nuclear weapons don't you?

Buy already made night sights. I'm not sure but even buying (or maybe just inquiring about) tubes not made into a product could be bad. I would check it out very carefully before hand.

Pre-911 I took some Trinitite (sand fused by the first atomic bomb blast in New Mexico) to a lab to have it tested to see if it had anything above background radiation. This is the only way you can guarantee it is real and not man-made. When I walked in, two people were dressed in full radiation suits, standing against the wall, holding out a gieger counter toward me. Their eyes were the size of saucers. Today, I would probably land in jail - at the least.

It's not uncommon to see them for sale on candlepower forums from time to time. Some of the users there buy them in bulk from time to time, and then sell them in small batches to forum members.
Ebay used to sell them pretty frequently, but they cracked down on that. You can still buy keychains on ebay with a small vial of Tritium in them for pretty cheap and then cut open the keychain and remove the vial.

I will keep looking. mb-microtec in Switzerland makes them to order, but wants confirmation that you have a permit (from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission) to import them.

I give up. I cannot find a U.S. supplier of tritium vials. I am going to guess that the U.S. sale of individual tritium vials that are not already installed in an approved product is a violition of national security laws since 9/11. I know that only those products containing tritium vials that are approved as having a legitimate purpose may be imported. Inquiring minds can call XS or Meprolight, ect.

I presume that if you have dimming tritium gunsights, then you will have to replace them. If you want to experiment on a non-HD firearm, the NiteSiters are cheap and brighter than tritium after 5 minutes exposure to bright light. But NiteSiters are definitely NOT for any HD firearm!

I did a little checking. You should have a government license before trying to obtain tritium - unless you are buying a finished product.

It does concern me a little when someone with only 2 posts here comes on and asks how to buy material that is used in pretty small amounts to enhance hydrogen bombs. Worst case, it could be used in a dirty bomb. If I knew how to procure vials in bulk I think I would keep the information to myself. Welcome to the world we live in.

If you need it for night sights - please just spend $80 and buy the sights.

The reason I ask is that I like DIY projects and I'm currently trying to improve my Kel-Tec P-32. It's a tough little handgun that just needs a little polishing.
The Tritium sights I've found available are just too big to fit this gun's small, snag free profile. What I'd like to find are the small, bare tubes to fit into the existing machined sights so ergo the question.

thats exactly one of the things tooltech (mentioned above) does. send them your slide and they will drill out the stock sights and install tritium vials. usually about $175 bucks.

i know someone thats done this on their PPS and is very happy with the results.

dwc1973....No offense intended. I was pretty sure you were on the up and up, but we all need to be watchful in these times.

Good luck on getting what you need. You might look on AR15.com in the handgun section for your Kel-Tec. Might be someone who has been there, done that.

Welcome to the basement! :)
