I have an 870 Express with which I'm extremely dishappy how it shoots. Basically, it slams my cheek bone upon shot, patterns horrible, the front sight is WAY too high, etc. I was thinking about repacing stock (to ease the cheek weld problem, which I do NOT have with either Winchester 1300 or Mossberg Maverick 88), possibly replacing barrel (better shot placement), or one with better front sight (Factory Remington has Rised Front blade which I hate. Does not line up properly). Does the Mossberg replacement barrel (sold through Cabella's) have the "Remington style" front sight (useless IMHO) or a "Standard" bead (as on most Mossbergs) barrel type front bead (mounted flush on barrel, NOT "Remington Style" which is POST/raised mounted)?
As much as I dislike the 870 for it's safety/release ergos, I'd like to sustain it based on it's robustness. To do this, I must get it to shoot properly. Otherwise, It's headed for resale. Any help?
