I have an 870 Express with which I'm extremely dishappy how it shoots. Basically, it slams my cheek bone upon shot, patterns horrible, the front sight is WAY too high, etc. I was thinking about repacing stock (to ease the cheek weld problem, which I do NOT have with either Winchester 1300 or Mossberg Maverick 88), possibly replacing barrel (better shot placement), or one with better front sight (Factory Remington has Rised Front blade which I hate. Does not line up properly). Does the Mossberg replacement barrel (sold through Cabella's) have the "Remington style" front sight (useless IMHO) or a "Standard" bead (as on most Mossbergs) barrel type front bead (mounted flush on barrel, NOT "Remington Style" which is POST/raised mounted)?
As much as I dislike the 870 for it's safety/release ergos, I'd like to sustain it based on it's robustness. To do this, I must get it to shoot properly. Otherwise, It's headed for resale. Any help?

It sounds like you are right on to change the stock so you are going to try out other stocks so you don't waste money buying and trying or you could try to find one with similar LOP and other measurements to your other stocks.
In the other thread you said you use classic Federal buckshot, that is the economy shell, try the Flight Control or Hornady versions and see how much better it patterns. Changing your barrel for this reason doesn't seem like the way to go. Your personal preference for the front sight is your preference so we cannot tell it to you. You might want to look into changing the sight you have on the gun now, maybe with a big tritium bead. I do not know what the front sight on the Mossberg barrel looks like but for the money you would spend on a new barrel you could have an upgraded front sight that wouldn't be on a stock barrel.

The money you would spend to re-create an 870 Express in a configuration you can live with, added to what you can get by selling your 870 Express, would probably buy a shotgun that fits you better. But just to show you two of the seven barrels that Mossberg makes for the Remington 870 (and I just bought a security barrel for a Mossberg 835 which has a smooth chamber, unlike some recent Express chambers):

Good luck, Ken!
