While waiting for the parts to come in I made a rear cover for the stock and a sling from some vintage canvas I had laying around to hide the temporary cheap slip-on rubber recoil pad. Added 2 shot shell holders too: ![]() And tried out a velcro side saddle (for now just mounted with double sided tape). Not sure yet how I feel about it: ![]() |

Beautiful. The camera angle and barrel length almost give a BAR sort of look. |

What my Shotgun came as... [A Cheap, 3rd rate Turkish Shotgun - so bad that the manufacturers might not be known. - Huglu Turkey] ![]() ![]() After some improvised modifications! Added some new sights to replace the bead, added some old ghost-ring sights I had lying in the house in my plastic containers as the rear sights. I have also been able to replace the Pistol grip with an old Mako stock that I have. It is a solid folding stock which gives a lot more portability and manoeuvrability. These are items I had decided to hoard over the years. I ended up drilling into the top of the rib to fit the sights. Front sights: improvised…Many different bits and pieces put together… Windage adjustable. Mako Folding Stock: originally for a Mossberg 500. [I did quite a lot of Dremel work, and used adaptors to get it to fit as it did.] Six-Shell Side Shell Holder: basically ‘Sugru-ed’ to the flat side of the receiver. Sugru works! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Early Vepr-12 with conventional stock tang. Full Cerakote in Graphite Black with bolt carrier in Savage Stainless. Forward sling attachment points were removed. Tapco G2 trigger installed. Full walnut stockset by Matt at Ironwood Designs. Been working on it off and on for a few years. Not really super useful for much but sure does look/feel/smell good. ![]() ![]() |

Mossberg 590. I just added the Magpul SGA stock and I dig it so far. ![]() ![]() It can be done! The SGA is completely flat so the NcStar shell carrier I had in a spare parts bin works perfectly. It attaches with velcro. I only room to comfortably fit 4 shells and as luck would have it, this comes in 2 pieces; a 4 round and a 2 round section. ![]() |

My new home defense/do-whatever shotgun. I plan for this to be my one and only shotgun for the most part. I'll get some range toys in the future, but this is going to be the go-to for when things seriously need to get shot. I tried various guns, Mossbergs, Winchesters, The Rock Island M5 (really wanted to like that one but it just wouldn't cycle) in the end I liked the solid old school quality feel of the 870, and figured if it's going to be my "only-ish" shotgun, might as well make it a nice one. So I went with a new Wingmaster Claro. Same basic Wingmaster just fancier Claro Walnut. The camera REALLY doesn't do it justice. Stashed the original 28" light profile barrel in the closet and bought a replacement standard profile 28". Cut it down to 18.something" and had it threaded for chokes. Top it off with a XS Big Dot tritium sight and she's ready to rock. The short barrels makes it nice and handy around the house while replaceable chokes still allow you to bust some informal clays and fetch some dinner in a pinch. The vent rib, I just like the way it looks and helps me to point the gun. I consider this barrel to be the best general purpose, do-everything-acceptably-well setup. And ofcourse noone offered one off the shelf so some cutting had to be done. ![]() This is as tactical as my shotgun needs to be. ![]() Along with it's trusty back-up. A new S&W Mod. 19-9. Also set up with Meprolight tritiums. Pretty much any gun that I think I might possibly use for real social work gets tritiums. ![]() Let the Hillary Hole flaming begin ![]() I don't care what they say, I think the new stuff is built just as well if not better than ever. |
