Owners of NFA firearms are not required to notify ATF of a change of address for in-state moves. Interstate moves require a little more effort, but are still relatively easy.
A permanent change of residence to a new state requires notice to ATF. A Form 5320.20 is used to document the permanent interstate move, with notice provided to ATF for all types of NFA firearms – AOWs and suppressors included. Similar to a temporary move, ATF will generally approve the permanent change of address if the destination state allows NFA firearms. In some cases, certain NFA types of firearms may be permitted, while other types are not. For example, Washington State allows the possession of Any Other Weapons, suppressors, and destructive devices, but prohibits the possession of machine guns, short barreled rifles, and short barreled shotguns. A request to transport any of the three prohibited types of firearms to Washington State on a temporary or permanent basis would be denied by ATF. When in doubt, seek advice from ATF directly or competent legal counsel familiar with NFA firearm regulations.

So a shotgun with a stock and barrel under 18 inches is an SBS and a shotgun with a pistol grip and no buttstock and a barrel shorter than 18" is an AOW?
So if i get a form 1 approved to build an SBS, it must have a buttstock or it is not an SBS, but an AOW which would be a different NFA classification?

Awesome. I need to start getting my forms and stuff together so I can get started waiting (im)patiently on an approval. ETA: will the BATF approve form 1s on SBS's for 18 year olds? Im 19 and I've been told they will approve form 1's and form 4's on SBS's for 18 year olds. If this is incorrect I can't legally own one anyway.

But keep in mind that, unless you're sending your Form 1's and Form 4's as a trust or corporation, you will need a CLEO signature, and I'm not sure how happy your local chief of police or sheriff would be to sign off on those for a 19 year old. Either way I hope it goes through for you. Keep us posted : )

To get around the Chief and the Sheriff Sigs., check the class 3 auto Boys, some of them form a trust and the trust owns the gun or guns.
I went AZ to fill an item on my Bucket List, I shot an HK MP5, gun rent 165.00 100 Rnds od 9mm 40.00, It was over faster than you could drink a small glass of water, but it was a BLAST. John location Scottsdale gun Club, Scottsdale, AZ

For those that went the Form 1 route and made their own, how did you go about engraving or stamping the necessary information? Did you have some else do it or is there a simple hand tool that will work?
Thank you.

Thank you. I sent mine here. http://www.orion-arms.com/you can use hand stamps if you want to, but unless you are VERY skilled with stamps and a hammer it looks like hell.

Original Ithaca Auto & Burglar shotguns (AOW) can be found on the NFA market, but they are a bit pricey. There was a company making new ones in 12-gauge around the turn of the century, but I don't know what happened to them.

I am in pretty tight with the Chief of Police in my town, so getting a signature shouldn't be a problem. He already okayed my C&R license.

I've heard some rumors that the ATF is dropping the CLEO signature on class 3 stuff. This would simplify the process.
