just thinking about starting on wine, maybe orange juice wine...

anyone got an experience?

No help but I would like to brew mead.

Drink it in small amounts, like a something between whisky and wine. A ligueur sort of thing but with carbonation.

Our son did some a while back, just put honey and water in a bottle and mead came out. So he says.

Yeah. There are super yeasts that are brilliant. I fermented beer, very dry.

In general the term brew isn’t used for wine. My advice is stick with grape juice. Buy the juice from California. It is easy to come by. You will be miles ahead toward making something decent. Good wine has no sugar added. Most fruits besides grapes don’t have enough sugar naturally to give the expected 11-15% of alcohol. Hence the use of grapes in the majority of good table wine. Don’t fight Mother Nature.

No but I got deep into beer brewing a few years back. Had to quit because it was making me fat. Thick dark beer is sort of like drinking a delicious glass of pumpernickel bread.

BTW, a neighbor brews wine and his absolute best yet was a lemon wine!

No, but made a lot of tequila, vodka, rum, moonshine, and whiskey. Was a professional distiller. In many ways all alcohol, beer, wine, and spirits are the same. Ferment a sugar to make alcohol. Different sugars make different flavors. There are subtle differences, but the basics are the same. Keep the yeast happy and they make alcohol.

I wouldnt mind trying red wine. Cos i likes it.
