Hello everyone, I was just on the franchi USA website and was looking for the 48-al and couldn't find it anywhere. Does this mean it's discontinued or am I just not looking in the right place? And if it is, does this mean that there is no more new long recoil shotguns being made anymore? Thanks.

Thanks randy. Was the sales that bad? That was my next purchase I was saving up for. Hopefully they'll be enough on the market for a little while. Am I right in that this is the end of the long recoil production?

Yes, sales were that bad, at least in the U.S.

As to no long-recoil guns being made anywhere, or sold anywhere in the world, I can't answer that one. The "Franchi" 48-AL's were (and perhaps still are) made in Spain by BBI.

Thanks again for the info. That's very disappointing I guess if I can't find one on the market then I guess I'll have to wait for the v3 20 gauge to come out.

Oh, they are out there. Of course, Auto-Fives are out there a lot more, over 3,000,000 made, so if there is safety in numbers, the A-5 has it along with the Remington 1100 / 11-87. In semi-auto land, those two models aren't going to have parts problems in anyone's lifetime that posts on this forum.

For someone that wants one, there are fifty or so you can have right now: http://www.gunbroker.com/Semi-Auto-Shot ... nchi+48+al

That sounds just like what I was looking for. I recently bought a Remington 11-48 with a 25 in barrrel and it seems like a perfect sized combination. It carries and points just right for rabbits.

I have a 28 gauge fenice and it has been very reliable. Great to carry while working my bird dogs on pen raised quail. Easy to hold with one hand if I need to tend to my dogs in some way. After a little research, I see there are other alternatives but I do not see them as much at the stores as the franchi. I suspect that will change now

What a shame. I will never part with mine, and hope I can find 12 ga with choke tubes one of these days.
