If your gun was made before 1963, it has a date stamped on the water table.
If your gun's serial No comprises only digits, it means it was made after 1986, and the first two digits are the year of production.
The problems begin with guns made between 1963 and 1986. They have a letter (or two) in the serial No, before the digits. There is a corellation between the letters and the years of production. Unfortunatly, sometimes the same letters were used in different years. There is a table connecting the years with the letters. It's in Russian, but the model No;s are recognisable.
