Finally got a chance to get after them today, the last day of the season, and managed to scratch out a limit of three with my trusty Winchester 101. Was pass shooting in timber and used Remington Nitro Steel 1¼ oz. #4 which worked really well.

I hunt in WI. The season closes first week of December. The lakes up north did not freeze until mid December. The divers and mallards never really came down all season. I only shot a few wooducks,a few teal, one mallard, two gadwall, and one ruddy that likely did not know it was too warm for ruddies. Only about half f what I usually take in a season.

No ringnecks, redheads, or buffleheads to be seen and I did not take any geese. I still had fun though. :)

About a week after close there were huge flocks of mallards and Canada's in the cut corn. Much thicker than usual, but shooting time was over.

The timber is mostly oak. Much of it is flooded now and holding a ton of wood ducks.

The Winchester 101 is about 30 years old and was my primary hunting gun for a long time. It may look good in the picture, but has it's share of scratches and worn bluing. Still does the job well, though.
