Got out on my last quail hunt of the season before I head back to school for my final semester in AZ. Me and my brothers friend (basically my other older brother) who started me out quail hunting and taught me how to hunt, suggest we go to the spot he first took me all those years ago. We headed out that next morning to Carrizo Plains, which is one of my favorite places in central California, it is like a slice of how the central valley was before large scale settlement, a few ranches dotting the plains and wideswept views in all directions. We saw loads of animals, but not really any quail till the end. Spotted antelope, golden eagles, tule elk out crazy, one coyote and a pesky owl who followed us around in the evening.

We abandoned my truck after the road dissapeared into a wash and walked out about 3/4 of a mile across the plains to lowlying hills.

The days bag for me, I shot the most birds i have in a day, no dog or anything. I took 8 quail home and got them frying up right now, my friend took 1 quail and a rabbit. Granted I shoot and hunt more, we had a good time and a memorable trip for me for years to come.
