Looking for ideas and sources for a used, NICE, semi-auto or pump shotgun for my daughter-in-law-to-be. She is maybe 5-3 or 5-4, a size 6, self-confident, strong, young woman. I am guessing 13- to 13-1/2 inch LOP would suit her.
Where do I look for a decent 20-gauge, 3-inch semi or pump shotgun for her in the $500-$600 range? The funds are what make me think I would be best looking in the used market. Yes?
Suggestions as to makes and models?
Thank you in advance for your assistance. I am much obliged!

Look at the 20 gauge Benelli Nova.

I am a huge fan of the Beretta A300 for smaller people. I know you can only get it in 12 gauge, but it has an adjustable LOP and for my family, the perceived recoil is less than any of our 20 gauges. Plus, you can get it new in your price range. I think it is uglier than a mud fence, and feels like a 2x4 to me, but everyone loves to shoot it. It gets shoot twice a week for skeet and trap, and has killed it's share of ducks and geese.

pumps kick like a mule. Get a gas gun. A300 is a great suggestion.

Here's another vote for the A300, particularly the synthetic versions. You get 1.5" of LOP adjustment from stock spacers and shims for drop and cast adjustment. Add to that recoil pads of different thicknesses and you can really tune the fit.

My A300 is a relatively soft shooting gun even with my fast steel waterfowl loads. A few weeks ago I was shooting with a 13 year old girl that matches the description of your daughter, and her father. She had a wood A300 and was handling it well.

If you are set on a 20 gauge there is a black synthetic Weatherby SA-08 for sale in the classifieds with both adult and compact stocks at what looks like a fair price. I have the Mossberg SA-20 version of this gun, set up the same way, and it's a great gun. The SA-20 is light and fast handling, it will be my go-to gun for jump shooting teal and ducks off the kayak this coming weekend.

Just got my daughter (who is even shorter than your DIL to be) an A300, and she likes it far better than the 20ga 870 youth she was shooting.
